The Blue BlogStill searching for Debra Winger
August 20 DW UpdateI have been hanging with my friend _MC_ while she is in town for work stuff from the other coast, perfect opportunity I thought to get some dish on DW (her new neighbor).
MC was disappointed to tell me that she hasn't ran in to DW once in the new building in the UWS of Manhattan...Sigh, I wait patiently. MC is well aware of the pressure she is under to make things work, I will be traveling back to NYC this fall, and I fully expect a dinner/bbq on the roof deck with me and DW (MC is welcome too I suppose).
August 10 Saab storyFriday evening I was sitting on the front porch enjoying the evening pondering everything and anything random including my cute car parked across the street. I also noticed that someone had blocked my neighbor's driveway across the street probably not noticing that it was a driveway. Fast forwd to me noticing that my neighbor's big blue Mercury was no where to be seen, and me thinking - huh, she won't possibly try to parallel park it behind my cute little Saab and that car blocking her drive....incorrect assumption on my part. Somehow in the next ten minutes after I walked inside she tried - (and I emphasize tried) to squeeze it in...forsaking a chunk of my back bumper. This is where it gets highly interesting, and where I have now become the talk of the block. I called her out on it after I went back outside and realized she had parallel parked down the side and back of my car. She is older, but still, my car has a good deal of damage to it. Evidence was left clearly on my car - and on the front bumper of her car. When I called her to tell her there had been an accident and to meet me on the street, she denied it and actually got very enraged that I would accuse her (and the paint on her bumper) of hitting my new car..."Jesus would not allow me to lie about such things, I can't believe you would even question that Pat' was the defense I encountered over and over...the arguement then somehow started to include the fact that I don't give her enough space to park her car and that she could get two reserved spots from the city with one phone call...and I realized I was not going to win this...She yelled at me 'Pat, its JUST A CAR" and I said calmly, 'Neighbor, yes it is just a car, but it's MY car'...and I realized this would go on all night and just turned and walked off. I don't think I am overly marterialistic - but I like to keep the things I own looking nice and in good shape. I walked up to my house and realized by someone damaging something of mine, and me not backing down about it, or ignoring it...I have caused my first real neighborhood angst, everyone is going to know that I gave her a hard time about it, and it's funny - I don't care.
The sucky part is that I will be parting ways with hundreds of dollars to correct all this even after causing the angst. So now I am left wondering - do you just let this stuff go, or do you call it out when someone does something like this to something you own? This neighbor rift is going to go on now for years, I can feel it, she has got a grudge and so do I, and I have no interest in repairing it..Not so much about the money, but because she lied so passionately to me about it - with my paint all over her bumper. July 07 Yay for Southwest! This is great - for some reason I suspect a lawsuit from this fine looking, well behaved looking bunch of people. (I am seemingly judgmental in this post, I realize it, and own it, I will let you make your own assumptions once you view the video).....The 'pregnant sister' is my favorite. Met with police officers? I love it, I wish I could have been at the airport to play spectator.
The kids were 'loud' and 'kept getting up on the plane'. I sure hope ol' Gramma Bobby gets her public apology, even though she wasn't on the plane.
July 01 Speaking of BFFsIt happened nigh on a week or so ago, but I got the best news of my life. My coworker and friend that we will refer to as _MC_ passed on through casual conversation that she had found a new apartment in New York City. I was happy for her, but the conversation quickly turned to my undying adoration for my new bff that we will refer to here as D.W. Those that know me well will decipher the D.W. reference, and the fact that _MC_will be living RIGHT EFFEN UNDERNEATH D.W. in the same building!!!!!! I have had to do some convincing to_MC_ that I am not a stalker...just an overzealous fan. Too bad I am not the marrying type or I would be stealing DW right away from her husband when_MC_ throws a rooftop deck party that consits of just the three of us... I will be forwarding on an 'action' plan to _MC_ shortly that will ensure that she and D.W. become bffs in time for me to come back to the city...
Stay tuned.
